Front border

The weekend forecast wasn't good, but it stayed dryer than expected yesterday so I was able to get out for a while. The edge of the grass was a bit higgledy-piggledy, so first job was to straighten it.

Then the fading crocuses (that I picked up for next to nothing) were put in, along with a few daffodil bulbs for next spring, a few gladioli bulbs for this summer, and a large sprinkling of summer meadow seeds, and hey presto, one tidy looking border.

Wonderful job - I finally put some already blooming primroses in the pots on the deck - looks so much cheerier. Our spring so far has been so chilly and rainy and windy, so not much else is getting done. I have put in a few pink tulips and some gladiolas - that's about it. Hoping for some warmer weather soon - but not really expecting it.

isn't it amazing how a straight edge to the lawn lifts the whole bed :) Today has been gorgeously sunny - just makes you want to be out and gardening, long may it last.
