As I walked towards my car in the supermarket car-park, one of the front tyres didn't look quite right, so instead of going on to B&Q I made my way back home. Sure enough, when GM took the wheel off he found:
He took the wheel round to our local "car fixers" who very kindly plugged it. I was surprised that we no longer have a spare wheel, instead we have what's called a "get-you-home" wheel, so while the wheel was away being fixed, poor Natalya (yes, we name our cars) sat on the driveway with a jack holding her up.
I mentioned I was on my way to B&Q, as I thought we needed a new wire brush. I've been cleaning up the moss between the brickwork in the yarden, and the wire brush is, let's just say, less than efficient at the job. When I mentioned it to GM he said we had a brand new one in the garage, and he was not wrong.
And finally, for now, I took this photo. See if you can work out what it is.

I am standing in front of the kitchen sink, looking out through the window to my car, which has a reflection of the sky on her bonnet.

I remember being surprised when tyres no longer had inner tubes, my husband said that that had stopped years ago.... Who knew?? Well certainly not me 😀
ReplyDeleteI think we have a spare tyre, but I wouldn't like to guarantee it. Finding a good tyre place is like finding rubies. I always take sweeties to our garage.
ReplyDeleteThat reflection in the window is so beautiful.
Don't you hate it when you get a puncture in your tire? At least you didn't have a completely flat tire! I've had that happen to me with my previous car. The current car has a light that comes on when the tire pressure goes down and I take it to the nearby tire place to have it checked. How wonderful that your husband already had a new wire brush on hand! That's a clever photo - I could make out the kitchen sink, but, I thought you were standing outside, taking a picture of the kitchen sink and not the other way round. :)
ReplyDeleteGood thing you didn't buy another wire brush and would have ended up having to return it ( who needs two wire brushes?)
ReplyDeleteI must admit there was no way I could even guess what the picture was :)
I really enjoyed reading this, your storytelling makes an everyday moment like a car tyre issue feel like a little adventure! I love how Natalya has a name and personality, and the reflection on her bonnet is such a lovely, poetic touch. Your attention to small details makes the scene so vivid.
