We often see groups of kids on the canal in canoes, having lessons, but this one was a bit different. They were being told to jump in! OK the canal is only about 4' deep, so no danger of drowning or anything, but its not a river, the water doesn't flow that fast along it, and it seems to be mostly full of diesel from the holiday barges that cruise from March to October. Not sure I'd be too pleased if my kids had been made to jump in.
Oooh yucky. I guess they were learning how to get back into the canoes, if they should happen to fall in at all. Not an easy feat, as I found out on my holls recently as we had a green canoe like these. But I agree, cannot taste too good if you get a good mouthful.
