Calling all my green fingered friends

Please can anyone tell me the name of this shrub? It's in full flower right now, and has a delicious, sweet but not overpowering scent.

  1. Not positive here, but I think thats a philadelphus, also known as a mock orange. My mum loves these and they do indeed smell gorgeous.

  2. I'm not green fingered but I did have a Philadelphus, and I don't think it is that, as that had bigger single petals that dropped all over the floor and were about the size of a 5p piece. Although, I may be wrong!!!

  3. I looked up philadephus in my shrub book, I couldn't really tell from the illustration, but it said it flowers in june/july, so I dont think it can be, as its very definitely in full flower now.

  4. I don't really know much about plants but have a look at this:

Scroll down the page a bit and look at the photo of the viburnum. Looks a bit like your plant and the description fits.

    What do you think?

  7. I think it is definitely a viburnum because it is the correct time of year for flowering, they have a lovely scent and I've had two in the garden in the past. Lucky lady - they are beautiful
