When we moved I just shoved my clothes wherever, and when we recently had a bit of a re-arrangement of the bedroom, I realized that it was quite urgent to have a proper sort through - so yesterday the deed was done.
All the drawers were emptied, and everything strategically shoved onto the bedroom floor.
I had a little bit of encouragement from my mate.
I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't take me too long (about an hour, with a couple of tea breaks) to organise the whole lot into several tidy piles, all ready to put away again.
So, here are piles of cropped trousers, long trousers, skirts, thick jumpers and sweatshirts, hoodies, cardies, mid-weight jumpers, light-weight jumpers, shirts, vests, T shirts, tank tops and waistcoats and, finally, summer cotton tops. These are all my clothes (apart from underwear, sleepwear, swimwear, socks, tights, the clothes I'm wearing, the ones in the dirty laundry basket, several coats in the coat cupboard and in the hall, footwear, gardening clothes and some dresses on the hanging rail).
That might seem like way too many clothes, but I have an excuse! For years I was size 14 and then gradually over the past four years since I retired I've eased my way up to size 16, so I've had to buy new clothes to fit. Now, finally, I'm edging my way back, slowly, to size 14, so when I get there, I can bag up all my size 16 clothes and hide them in the loft - and I'll still have all my old size 14s to wear (and put in the new wardrobes when they're fitted).
A good job well done, I think (and ties in nicely with my resolution to do more!)

I've just been sorting out my freezer, throwing away very old stuff and then I've logged everything that's in there so I don't keep buying things I don't need. My next job is the wardrobes and drawers and then hopefully all will be straight in my house. It's a lovely feeling when it's all done isn't it?

Job well done, but tell me why will you keep the size 16s in the loft? wouldn't it be better to give to charity then you have no excuse for going up to 16s again or if you do you have a good excuse for buying new clothes a win win situation if you ask me....
That's funny - we have just moved from a house with fitted wardrobes to one without as well. Trying to fit both our clothes into one free standing pine one is just not the same. Keep telling husband we need another - he will see sense in the end! ! ? ? X

Well done for the sort out. I had planned to sort lots of things out over the Christmas break, but, somehow, nothing actually got done. Must take a bit of inspiration from you and just get on with it. Ooh, but look over there, I can see a book that I must read NOW...

I am working on "projects" as well, all the little things I have been putting off and neglecting. It's a good time to do it! It feels great, doesn't it!
I'm going to have to work through my lot of clothes as I can't shut the wardrobe door at the moment! Oh dear.
