Things that make me happy 116-120/365

A couple of weeks ago I blogged that I was feeling jaded and now I know why. I usually make a trip to Surrey sometime during the Easter holidays to see the family, but this year, as we have so much scheduled to happen during May, I decided not to make the trip, and I was missing seeing them all. My newest grandchild, who was due on 11th May, decided to put in an early appearance, which meant that Easter Monday saw me quickly throwing a few things into a suitcase and heading eastwards up the A303, and I got to make my Easter holiday trip after all.

So today, here are some of the precious people in my life who add immensely to the happiness that I feel on a daily basis.

116. The 16-year-old grandson, who was requested by his mum to get up at 11am on a weekend morning because of my visit.

117. The 12-year-old grandson, likewise,

118. The 3-year-old granddaughter, my constant companion for almost a week, while her parents were busy

119. The almost 1-year-old granddaughter, an absolute delight

120. And last, but by no means least, the newborn granddaughter within half an hour of arriving back home from the hopsical (her sister's word).

Thanks, boys and girls, I love you all.

Things that make me happy 111-115/365

Last Monday I was unexpectedly called away as my heavily pregnant daughter-in-law's waters broke, three weeks ahead of due date. I had a few photos ready to post so I'll post those today, and will catch up over the next few days.

111. I had been watching an old recording of the fantastic Paul Lewis playing Beethoven's third piano concerto while doing the ironing (me, not him!)

112. One of the tulips in a pot at the back of the house appears to be triple-headed

113. The wisteria on the trellis is almost ready to flower

114. Early morning raindrops on a daffodil leaf

115. My afternoon snack, an orange

Obviously the recent birth of my third granddaughter is an occasion that has given me an immense amount of happiness. I have literally hundreds of photos in the camera taken over the last seven days, so I'll be spending the next few days going through them all, editing etc. and will be back soon with the best of them for my next blog post. I'll also take some time over the next few days to visit all those blogs I follow, and to catch up on what you've all been up to.

Things that make me happy 106-110/365

106. A beautiful sunny day, and an ice cream in the park

107. A new outfit for my Mum's 90th birthday do (size 14 trousers, yippeeeee)

108. New shoes to go with above

109. A sign right next to a public footpath - walkers beware.

110. A picture of me, drawn by GD1 (I think the squiggles at the top are meant to say "Joy" rather than "cow"!)

I hope you are all enjoying the Easter weekend, although today looks very wet down here in Wiltshire, so it will be indoor jobs all day - hopefully the ever-increasing ironing pile will at long last disappear.

We viewed this house in August 2011, and when I first saw the bathroom my immediate reaction was "that purple is gonna have to go". Well, we have now lived here for a week short of two years, and at long last . . .

Day 1. Before

Day 2. After a covering coat of white paint

Day 3. After the first coat of yellow paint

Please come back in a few days time to see the end result.

Things that make me happy 102/365

Not a particularly fantastic picture, but I was absurdly happy to see this little rainbow refraction on my cupboard door the other morning.

The outside petals of the huge yellow tulips that I cut and took indoors are now taking on a reddish touch.

GM was sent some chocolates for doing an online survey. He doesn't like chocolate, but he knows a gal who does.

Five on the fifth for April

I make no apology for once more mentioning the park which is two minutes walk away from my home. It is an ideal place for country-lovers like myself and townies like GM, being very close to town, and bordering a wild-life sanctuary on the banks of the River Wylye. This week the park is having its after-winter spruce-up ready for the Easter holiday season, which is, to all intents and purposes, the start of being outdoors here in UK.

So my five in five for this month were all taken within a five minute period while walking home from the supermarket.

The children's paddling pool is being prepared

Someone obviously couldn't be bothered to walk a few yards to enter the tennis courts, so made a short-cut.

Further along, and the surface moss is being removed

These paddle boats will soon be brought back to the boat-house for a clean-up.

The grass has been cut . . .

. . . all we need now is the sunshine, and the park will be full of folk enjoying themselves.

Five in five is a regular feature, organised by Sandie at itchifingers. Click the link to see the other entries for this month. Thanks Sandie.

This beautiful and unusually coloured japonica is growing in my next-door neighbour's garden, but is clearly visible from my conservatory over the top of the fence. Thankyou Sue.

Views from my windows, April

From my studio I can look out over to next-door's beautiful flowering cherry.

It looks a bit murky up at the golf club, from the bedroom window today.

Daffodils open and tulips almost ready to open, from the lounge window.

More tulips almost ready to open, from the back door.

The garden view, more daffodils and lots of green.

And lastly, from the kitchen window, I can also see next-door's flowering cherry.

Our first, very small, taster of rainbow chard from the garden this year, it was lovely.
