151/365 Cant settle . .

. . down to anything today, I wrote a couple of emails and did a small sewing job this morning and that was about it. I've got a pile of ironing waiting to be done and I'm really procrastinating over that, I suppose I'll have to start soon, but I really dont feel like it. Its such a gloomy, wet day. Rog and I walked down to town at lunch time, it was very quiet, had a beer (him) and a pot of tea (me) in the Bear Hotel, which is usually bustling, but not today.
I even had a look to see if there was anything worth watching on TV, but was rather pleased to see that there wasn't, I consider watching TV in the daytime to be a cardinal sin only to be resorted to if one is too ill to do anything much, but not ill enough to stay in bed.
So what do you do on a day like this, especially when your biorhythms all seem to be at the bottom of a huge dip? How you manage to pull yourself out of inertia when it strikes?
I cant even be bothered to take any new pictures today, so here is one I took earlier in the week just after the corn field had been harvested.
Oh, and before I forget, I tried the wine glasses, well one of them anyway, last evening and they work fine . . . ah, perhaps its a hangover I'm suffering from?

150/365 Smashing time

just lately and suddenly realized we were down to our last three wine glasses

so decided it was about time to get some more, a dozen should last us a little while!
Think I might have to try one out this evening, just to make sure they are OK, of course.

149/365 Blue . . . .

. . . is my favourite colour, nearly all my clothes are blue, most of the cars I've had have been blue, and in the past I've had blue bedrooms, blue kitchens and blue bathrooms. So it seems rather strange that at the moment not one of the rooms in my home is blue (however, as we start to decorate each room that MAY change!).

I do, however, have odd splashes of blue around the house, in the kitchen:

the sitting room

the bathroom

and the spare bedroom

and this is my current crochet project, which I hope to finish and sell before Christmas.

Blue Shed Crafts is the working name of a fellow Wiltshire crafter, who also knits, crochets and sews (and, I hasten to add, does all three a great deal better than I do). She makes the most gorgeous items, which she sells at local craft fairs and in her online shops which you can see here and here. Please have a look at her shops, you may just find that special something for that hard to buy for person for Birthday or Christmas.

148/365 Ebay

Today we have started having a major clear-out in preparation for phase II of our building work, and it just so happens that it co-incides with a free listing day on Ebay, so here are most of the items that I have listed for sale.

A pair of Royal Worcester china egg cups

A cut glass crystal decanter

A motorised car aeriel

and a pair of roof rails for a Vectra estate.

If you like the look of any of these items, my Ebay user name is shallxjoy and the items are listed to expire next Sunday afternoon.

147/365 Lunchtime outing

What a lovely day, such a contrast to Thursday when it was wet and Friday when it was dull. Today, although chilly, is bright and sunny, just as Autumn should be. As we had plenty of exercise yesterday at the gym, we took a car drive out into the beautiful countryside in which we live. Our car is pretty well trained, it couldn't go far without stopping at a pub, and this is one of the best we know, the Kings Arms at All Cannings.

After a swift glass of liquid refreshment we drove to the top of Etchilhampton Hill, where we stopped to eat our pre-packed sandwiches and enjoy both the views and the warm sunshine.

146/365 Yesterday it rained

and rained

and rained

and rained

and then it stopped

and very, very briefly the sun came out

145/365 Waiting for shelves

We are slowly populating our new work spaces, but we desparately need to buy some shelving next.
Here is Rog's side, Trap A, the Bridge. Look how nice and neat and tidy it is with his stationery cupboard loaded and all his boxes neatly stacked.

Here is my side, Trap B, the Studio, this is my corner desk unit loaded with boxes and trays of Phoenix paperwork that needs sorting.

This is all my Phoenix and "dots and spots" stock

These are my knitting boxes, the brown boxes are full of completed items, the white boxes and baskets are full of my yarns.

And here is my work bench, currently I'm using it to wrap parcels, but I'll also be able to use it as a cutting and sewing bench when I relocate my sewing machine from the kitchen cupboard.

I also want to get a couple of comfy chairs as well as a desk chair, and a glass-fronted bookcase for my lovely book collection. We are making progress, slowly but surely.

143/365 White horse

We stayed in Devizes today, Mum wanted to walk along to have a look at the Devizes White Horse, which is on the side of Roundway Hill, quite close to home.

142/365 Lacock Abbey

I took Mum to Lacock today, its quite close to Devizes, a whole village owned by the National Trust.
First we went to the Abbey, and had a walk round the gardens, I loved this little dark corner with the stream.

Then we went to the Stableyard, where we had a look in the brewery, sadly no longer working, so no tastings.

This magnificent archway led into the Abbey environs

The Fox-Talbot family used to live here, and this is the actual window that made photographic history.

Inside the cloisters, some of the scenes from the early Harry Potter films were shot here.

My mum used to have a cabinet exactly the same as this when she was first married in 1946

I really loved this magnificent kitchen clock

Something for my quilting friends to drool over

How would you like to carry this camera around in your bag?

Whoever thought that these rather hideous legs looked ok with the lovely walnut cabinet must really need new glasses.

Here is Mum after our tour and just before we went to the pub for some lunch.

Another lovely outing, if you are ever in Wiltshire be sure to visit Lacock
