I'm a huge fan of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall (actually, I'm not huge, just a little bit, well OK more than just a little bit, overweight) so last Sunday I watched the first installment of his new campaign to try to encourage us to eat less meat, on Channel 4. I enjoyed it so much I straight away ordered the book to go with the series, found it on Amazon, half-price (£12.50).
I'm never gonna be a vegetarian, I like meat too much to give it up altogether, but I have, over the last few years, cut down to only having meat once (max) a day. Rog, on the other hand, is very much a meat with (almost) every meal man, so trying to encourage him to eat less meat is likely to be an uphill struggle for me, but I am determined to try.
Almost as soon as the book was out of its wrapping I had a shopping list of things to buy. I'm going to start off gently, so this week I aim to make something (not sure what yet) with polenta, and also I'm going to make a squash and chickpea stew. I'll let you know how they turn out!
The second installment is this evening on channel 4 at 8pm, watch and enjoy.
Oh, and by the way, as you can see on the book cover, Hugh's had a haircut, and looks a bit more sensible and almost grown-up now!

This looks interesting Joy. I'll wait for updates on how you cope with getting Rog to eat more veg and less meat. Ced thinks that vegetables 'spoil a decent meal' and it's an unhill battle with him!
Enjoy - don't forget the piccys to show us the delights you make.
